Another Good Book to Read This Winter!

The Bravehearted Gospel

By Eric Ludy
2008
We first found out about this book from some blogging friends. Amy checked the book out from the library and read bits out loud to the family, it sounded good so then I read it too. :) This book is about the feminization of the churches that has happened over the years, and how people (men and women) have become afraid to stand up for the truth and accuracy of God's word.

The truth is worth fighting for!!

Here is a quote from the book:
"We've become so used to seeing Jesus portrayed holding pudgy babies and soothing lost little lambs that the idea of Him strolling into the temple armed with a whip to purge it of all its fleshly error seems jarringly foreign. Or, how about when Jesus stood toe to toe with the Pharisees and called them hypocrites seven times in one chapter, as well as blind, damned, murdering serpents who were the "unrighteous children of hell"? This seems shocking language for gentle Jesus meek and mild. In fact, it even seems "un-Christian," doesn't it? How is that even possible? What has happened to our sensibilities when even Christ's own actions seem "un-Christlike" to our modern "Christian" mind? The only possible explanation is that we seem to be viewing Jesus not as He was, but through some sort of one-dimensional filter - a filter that strains every last ounce of masculinity, grit, or aggression out of the historical man Jesus Christ, a filter that is distinctly and overtly biased toward feminine sensibilities. It's as if the manly stuff has been surgically removed from the whole Christian mechanism and even from the way we think."

(Alyssa, if it's ok with you, I'd like to see if I can contact a lost friend through your blog.)
To the visitor to this blog from Strasburg, VA: I had a friend named Elizabeth Miller who lived there in Strasburg,(used to live on Stively), an Amish woman who lost her husband about 7 years ago--she has 6 children, oldest Jason; we were writing back and forth and then I lost track of her. I would like to make contact with her again. If you know her, please come to my blog and leave a comment and we can get in contact that way. Liz is a very strong woman who's been through a lot; I am sorry to have lost contact with her. Thank you for any help you can give!
