I Am Still Here!!

Our computer 'died' on Monday, so we are at the library now useing thier computers. Yesterday Dad figured out that the Power Supply unit needs to be replaced; hopefully he will be able to get one soon. We miss having internet access!

We've been busy lately planting the garden and bottle feeding three orphan bucklings. We are also looking forward to going to a friend's graduation on Sunday afternoon. :) I love spring!

As soon as we have a computer again I will post more!

Week in Feminine Dress Day 7

This is the last day of the 'Week in Feminine Dress' over on the Sense and Sensibility message board. It went by so quickly! I've enjoyed seeing the outfits the ladies there have worn this week and am inspired by their creativity. :)

Today I wore the same work dress as I did on Tuesday, with the addition of my 'Tasha Tudor' apron. I planted beans, Swiss Chard and Zucchini and did a bunch of weeding in the garden. The weather was lovely!

Week in Feminine Dress Day 6

My dress today is one I made last year from fabric I found on sale at JoAnns. The sweater and sandals are from a thrift store and I made my bracelet.

Here I was trying to show the gore in the center front of the skirt. (There is one in the back and at each side seam too.)

"Leaning" on the light pole! ;)

Friends Come for the Day!

We spent a lovely time with 5 good friends from Cornerstone Church who drove up for the day. They each brought some salad toppings and we had a delicious lunch together.

Linnea's birthday is on Sunday so Ana made her a little birthday cake!

After lunch we showed the girls how to make 'Explosion Scrapbooks'.

Week in Feminine Dress Day 5

Today I am wearing a blue 3/4 sleeve shirt from a thrift store, a denim skirt I made from some of our old jumpers, and a pansy pin.

My sister and a friend started a book study at church and we are going through the book Do Hard Things so I am busy reading the assigned chapters for this week.

These flowers are such fun to make!

Week in Feminine Dress Day 4

Today I wore a blouse I made a couple years ago using as fabric a skirt that was too short for any of us. I used my favorite blouse pattern - Style 2889 with different sleeves and neckline. My skirt is from Land's End.

We stopped at the train depot on our way home from an appointment and Mom took this picture. It was very windy today!

Here is a little bit better view of the blouse.

Week in Feminine Dress Day 3

Today I am wearing my blue and white checked work dress. We bought a large amount of this fabric years back and this is my 3rd dress made from it! The others all eventually wore out. This one I made a couple weeks ago so it should last for a few summers. :)

For some reason I've always made these work dresses with a simple square neckline. This time I experimented with a slight variation.

Washing dishes. :)

I love seeing laundry out flapping on a clothes line. :)

We have flowers blooming now!

Week in Feminine Dress Day 2

Today I am wearing a short sleeved dress I made a few years ago. It's very sturdy and good for cleaning house! The shawl I've had for years...I'm not quite sure where we got it. I've always liked shawls and capes! I don't think I'll wear it all day though since it is actually warming up outside!!

(Our dog 'Willie' joined me for this picture.)

I pulled my hair back with some flower clips Mom gave me last fall.

I've got the entry and laundry room vacuumed; now I am off to wash windows!
Have a great day!!

Week in Feminine Dress Day 1

Well, here is my outfit for today. :)

My princes style dress is made from Rayon and was given to me by a lady at church. (I like hand-me-downs!) The wool jacket/sweater is from a thrift store. It really is spring here now but the temperature was in the 50's this morning! Birrr!

My sister gave me my necklace for Christmas last year and the hair clip is from WalMart.

WIFD Starts Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the start of another Week in Feminine Dress (WIFD) that the ladies on the 'Sense and Sensibility' message board do a few times a year. We take pictures of what we are wearing each day of the week and share them with each other. It's such fun to see everyone's outfits! So I will be posting pictures here on my blog of what I wear each day this coming week.
This time we are challenging ourselves to look more feminine in what we wear, just in simple ways. It is easy to wear a skirt/dress but not really look very feminine. (At least I've found this to be true personally.) So it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with!

High-Rise Muffins

We had these high and hearty muffins for breakfast this morning. :)
(Recipe HERE.) They are somewhat similar to a biscuit or pound cake in texture. The recipe can be customized with different flavorings, nuts, fruit, etc. The basic version is rather plain, but good with stronger tasting jams and jellies.

Off to Rochester and a visit with Grandma K.

Yesterday Mom, Dad and I left early for Rochester.

I saw this bumper sticker as we drove!
"Debt is normal. Be weird."

When we got to Rochester we ate lunch at Dunn Brothers. Yum!

Then we drove downtown. It's strange to think that I used to walk these sidewalks and go to the library and the stores here years ago!

I noticed that someone had their window open and their curtain blowing out on the top floor of this TALL building. Yikes!

We parked and walked to the library....

..where we went to the 'Friends of the Library' used book store.

I've always liked signs and thought this one on the newspaper building was kind of funny.

We drove around "Pill Hill" and then went to the Plummer House. This was the home of one of the original doctors at the Mayo Clinic. I would like to live in a house like this! It is so beautiful there and was lots of fun to photograph. :)
This is part of the back of the house...

...which was built in 1924.

Farther around the back of the house!

The front of the house.

Mom and Dad. :)

The gardens were lovely.

Then we drove out to the assisted living home where Grandma K. has been staying since her hip surgery in January.

She seemed to be doing quite well. :)

An old picture of Grandma and Grandpa that she had glued to a glass block that has a light in it.

On our way home we drove right by a field of these eyesores, I mean wind generators....

There were at least 50 of them all turning in the wind.

The drive home was very long and the wind really picked up.

At one point we could see clouds of top soil blowing away.

Farmland

A detour in Kimball. We arrived home a little after 10 PM. A long day but a good one. :)
