Thursday evening Dad drove us ladies down to Kingston to go to our friend Rachel's bridal shower! We were so excited to be able to attend!
I love her smile!
Mrs. DeVowe gave an excellent devotional on "Oneness in Christ and dying to self".
She read from Ephesains 4:21-32 , 5:22-33 and talked about how when we are saved we are dead to self and how Christ is the head. The two candles representing Rachel and Derek were joined together in lighting the unilty candle, which represents Christ. Oneness is obtained when He is the head and Rachel is then under Derek's leadership. Oneness is easier to obtain when you die to self.
Then she had four points of how Rachel can reverence her husband:
- Respect him
- Build him up
- Pray for him
- Be fun and flexible - do what he wants even if it's not in your box or what you feel like doing.
After the devotional, Rachel's Mom and sisters surprised her with the song My Heart Skips a Beat. It is one she heard at the Itasca Bluegrass festival last year and really liked.
Here is a video of them singing, with the lyrics below:
My Heart Skips A Beat
Oh, my heart skips a beat
When you walk down the street
I feel a tremblin' in my knees
And just to know your mine
Until the end of time
Makes my heart skip a beat.
Well, I did a double take the day I met you
My heart turned a flip as I stood next to you
And I knew right there I never could forget you
For you are my every dream come true.
And my heart skips a beat,
When you walk down the street
I feel a tremblin' in my knees
And just to know your mine,
Until the end of time
Makes my heart skip a beat.
You came into my life without a warning
And you turned my cloudy skies from gray to blue
Your my sunshine that comes up every morning
Yes, you are my every dream come true.
And my heart skips a beat
When we walk down the street
I feel a tremblin' in my knees
And just to know your mine
Until the end of time
Makes my heart skip a beat.
Yes, just to know your mine
Until the end of time
Makes my heart skip a beat.
